I Survived!

Writing here feels so foreign after being gone for so long; apparently it has been over four months since I’ve posted here and I apologize for that.

In hopes that it will help me get back into my blogging groove, I thought I would update you all on the whirlwind that these past five months have been.

I graduated!! No more late-night study sessions or ten-page research papers! Now to find a full-time job . . . 😉

The last time I posted was in September for the Love Life & Literature series that Meghan Gorecki and I started together. After my final semester of college had started, I found myself overwhelmed by assignments and the internship I took at our small university press. I was establishing the press’s publicity strategy, trying to get them on their feet, in addition to working as the head publicist at the university’s literary magazine. It was a lot to handle, so I decided to put all of my focus on finishing my final semester as well as I could. Meghan had a lot to focus on as well, such as her new book, Amongst the Roses that will be releasing in April! I decided to step away from the blog series because I knew I wouldn’t be able to give it my all.

One morning, with about six weeks until graduation, I was rushing out the door and received a message. I stopped right in my tracks when I realized I was being offered a temporary position at a publisher to help them out while one of their employees was on leave. Of course I wasn’t going to let that chance pass by! I started right away and juggled both school and training for my new job for six weeks, but it was most definitely worth it!

Since then, I’ve been trying to decompress and focus on completing my training for my temp job. The job will end within the next few weeks, and that has had me in a complete frenzy. My rent isn’t going to pay itself and my lease ends in a couple months, so I need to make some huge decisions soon. I have to decide where to start applying, where I’ll be moving, and if I should go back to school for an additional degree.

So, as you can tell, there has been a lot on my plate lately.

I’ve been trying to get back into the writing groove so hopefully you will be hearing from me more often. I’ll try to push myself to be more active because I really do miss it here!

Thank you for being so patient with me for the past couple years! 🙂
